DANTE’S ‘INFERNO’
DIRECTOR: NULLO FACCHINI
MUSIC: MARCO SPALLANZANI
SITE SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE
* Scenographer Bjarne v.H.H. Solberg has created a unique sequence of images for Cantabile 2’s unnerving journey into the human soul and into Hell……. Thanks to artist/scenographer B.v.H.H.S’s and director Nullo Facchini’s dazzling collaboration on the locations, and lighting the events that transpire in them, the four-hour journey becomes a completely overwhelming experience that brutally yet lovingly tears the veil from our eyes and shows us staged, though natural, nature in a whole new way. Which also means: us and our dubious moral values.

* The length and extent of the play in time and space, the journey’s length, together with scenographer B.v.H.H.S’s use of nature-given locations, constitute the event’s singularity and fascination.

* Rimbaud was a season in hell. B.v.H.H.S., letting the audience off with a single evening, profits from the gradual fadeout of nature’s own top light, ending in bright artificial light’s harsh shadows and spectral magnifications……. It is a generous production: the broad strokes of the set design, a smidgeon of taped music – otherwise choir and orchestra, several brilliant solo performances and retina etchings that stay with you.

* For its part, Cantabile 2’s visual total theater is furious, fascinating and fabulous. Fun, too. Barrier-breaking theater with thrilling costumes, music, mime, lighting and choreography.
