* At Østre Gasværk, B.v.H.H.S. has created the bones of a slave ship, a hold and lower deck, while employing the old gasworks balcony high up under the roof as the upper deck, where slaves are executed and tossed into the waves. The scenery is highly effective, with torches, lanterns, billowing sails, the roar of the ocean and dripping water.

* The three collaborators behind ‘Morels Invention’ have forged a new expression in ‘Speranza’ that is no less meaningful and captivating. Scenographer B.v.H.H.S. makes perfect use of the space. The audience is at once at the bottom and the top of a ship constructed from of strips of wood that towers against the stage backdrop.

* The striking interior of Østre Gasværk is again put to optimal use by scenographer B.v.H.H.S. Whether ‘Speranza’ is the company’s most successful production to date is a question of interpreting the genre’s ideal requirements of unity between dance and drama, though, all things considered, this is an artistic victory for the company and for the narrative and technical execution of a concept.
